On Saturday, May 10, members of the West Plains Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Josiah Howell Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) came together for a work day at the Armed Forces Memorial in People’s Park.
The volunteer effort focused on re-sanding the grout at the memorial to ensure its continued upkeep and honor those it commemorates. The project was led by Danny Brown of the VFW. Assisting him were fellow VFW members Jason and Cheryl Presswood, Mike Conlisk, and Scott Buennemeyer. West Plains Mayor Mike Topliff and his wife, Pam, also took part in the restoration work.
Representing the SAR were chapter President Garry Pirch, Vice President Paul London, and Historian Jerry Roberts.
The collaboration highlighted the community’s ongoing commitment to preserving local landmarks that honor military service and history.
