Ozarks Healthcare celebrated National Nurses Week by honoring Michelle Ferguson, RN, of the Medical/Surgical Department, as the latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The DAISY Award recognizes nurses worldwide for their clinical excellence, compassionate care, and positive impact on patients and their families.
Ferguson was nominated by a coworker who witnessed her care firsthand during an emotional time when their grandfather was placed on comfort care. The nomination praised Ferguson’s empathy, attention to detail, and heartfelt support—not only as a nurse but also as a trusted colleague and friend.
“She took the time to explain everything to my grandma and comforted both of us during a heartbreaking day,” the nomination read. “Michelle’s compassion and dedication were truly admirable.”
