Sunday morning at 0530 hours the Douglas/Ava Multi-jurisdictional Task Force served a narcotics search warrant on BB Highway in western Douglas County. Arrested and placed on a 24 hour hold was Derrell Highfill and Keita Highfill. Law Enforcement seized methamphetamine and numerous firearms.
A warrant was issued for Derrell Highfill age 68 for Possession of methamphetamine, 5 counts of unlawful possession of a weapon for possessing firearms and controlled substances and since Derrell was a CONVICTED felon he was charged with 5 counts of Felon in possession of a firearm. Derrell has an extensive criminal history so bond was set at $25,000 cash only.
A warrant was issued for Keita Highfill age 60 for Possession of a methamphetamine and 5 counts of unlawful use of a weapon for possessing firearms and controlled substances. Keita’s bond was set at $10,000 cash only.
Sheriff Degase would like to thank the Ava PD for their assistance. He would also like to remind those that use and deal in illegal narcotics that Douglas County is not the place to do it..
