Licking, MO- At 1:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, resident Omer Burns, DOC No. 33236, was pronounced dead at Jefferson City Correctional Center medical unit in Jefferson City,
Missouri.

Burns was an 84-year-old resident serving a life sentence for one count of rape from
Clay County. Burns was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on June 27,
2024.
Burns died of apparent natural causes.
