A Message From Howell County Sheriff Matt Roberts

Good morning Howell County,

What a beautiful Sunday morning we all got to wake up to! PLEASE don’t let that beauty fool you though! Temperatures continue to be dangerously cold and the road conditions have worsened substantially overnight.

The hours of sleet helped reduce the snowfall totals but will make this more difficult to clear from our roadways. The extremely cold temperatures are also causing issues with keeping equipment running, as diesel fuel even with treatments added is gelling up.

I have spoken with Howell County Road and Bridge this morning and they have trucks with plows and road graders clearing routes. This process will likely take at least 2 days if everything goes right. Please give them room to work if you are out and about. If your County Road does not get cleared today they haven’t forgotten you, it’s just taking a little while to complete this task.

MoDot is working to clear primary and secondary roads. Again, this will take some time. Please make sure you don’t crowd the plow trucks if you are out on the roads.

Again, your Howell County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Dispatchers remain ready if you need assistance during this event.
