Friday September 5th was the ribbon cutting and celebration for Air Evac who is celebrating 40 years of service in West Plains. What started out as a single unit company whose office was a closet at the hospital in 1985 has grown to now servicing 38 states.
Original CEO Colin Collins was in attendance and spoke about the early days of Air Evac, recalling one story of a rescue they performed in Alton, Missouri rescuing a young girl and later running into the same young lady, who had gone to become a lawyer, at the Capitol in Jefferson City stating “That’s what it’s all about”.
He gave credit to those who paved the way and paid respect to those who are no longer with us. He gave credit to Jack Bates as “the guy who really made things happen more than anybody, he was one of the first medics that Air Evac ever had”.
