On Monday, November 10, 2025, at approximately 1140 hours, the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a male who had been shot. The incident occurred on Main Street near the city park in Birch Tree.
Arrested was William Kelly Cooper, a resident of Birch Tree. Cooper turned himself in to law enforcement shortly after the incident. He allegedly shot the victim (who will not be identified at this time) in the neck with a 9mm pistol. The victim was treated at a local hospital and then transported by air ambulance to an undisclosed trauma center for further medical care. Cooper was also taken to a local hospital for injuries he sustained from the altercation with the gunshot victim.
Cooper has been charged with a Class C Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and is currently being held on a No Bond Warrant. This investigation remains active, and additional charges are likely as the case develops. This investigation is multifaceted.
