Ava, MO. – An Ava man was arrested in Douglas County on a slew of charges after stealing a vehicle and crashing it multiple times in July.
On July 20th, a wrecked vehicle was found on County Road 436 near Rome. The trail of the vehicle was followed to three individual crash scenes. James Porterfield, 45 of Ava, was found to have been driving the vehicle without the permission from the owners, and admitted to not only crashing the vehicle, but dealing with internal injuries as a result.
Porterfield was picked up by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Friday, August 8th, and is facing multiple criminal charges, most notably three felony counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and one felony count of Stealing a Motor Vehicle.
