On Thursday there was a serious accident on Route 19 just north of Eminence near the Conservation Department office. Two vehicles, including a large travel trailer, were involved with one person airlifted to the hospital. Three others were not seriously injured.

On Friday, a serious accident occurred on Route 19 near Pulltite, involving a small sedan and a pick up truck pulling a horse trailer. One victim was extricated by the Timber Community Volunteer Fire Department. The roof of the vehicle had to be removed to allow the victim to be treated and moved to the ambulance. He was airlifted to the hospital. No one else was injured in this accident, including the horses.  A second accident occurred on 106 east of Eminence almost simultaneously with the other one. Winona Fire and Rescue assisted Shannon County First Responders with this one as well. One victim was transported to the hospital.

The Shannon County First Responders treated victims at all these accidents, in addition to several non-vehicle accidents around the area last week and some calls due to illnesses. In working these accidents, the Shannon County First Responders were joined variously by the Eminence, Winona and Timber fire departments, the Shannon County Sherrif’s Deputies, Winona Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mercy EMS and Salem Memorial Hospital EMS as well as Mercy Lifeflight and Air Evac.

The Shannon County First Responders remind everyone that traffic has increased due to summer visitors and to be extra careful and always wear your seatbelts.
