Carter County Sherriff’s Department Makes Arrest for Burglary and Assault

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a burglary and assault. Upon arrival, deputies determined that the suspect had fled the scene. It was alleged that the suspect used a firearm, stolen from the residence, as a blunt object to assault a male victim inside the home. One resident held an active ex-parte order against the suspect.
 
During the subsequent investigation, the suspect made telephonic contact with the Sheriff and voluntarily agreed to surrender. Mr. Tyler Seward was arrested without incident on July 14, 2025. The firearm was also recovered with the cooperation of the suspect.
 
A warrant was issued for Mr. Seward on the following charges:
1. Burglary 1st Degree
2. Stealing – Firearm
3. Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
4. Assault 2nd Degree
5. Armed Criminal Action
No Bond
