Child Welfare Investigation Results in Multiple Arrests

MANSFIELD, Mo. — The Wright County Sheriff’s Office reported two arrests on Dec. 8 following an ongoing investigation that spanned several months.

According to the department, Corporal Shane Bryson arrested Eddie Barnett, 26, of Mansfield for failure to register as a sex offender. Barnett, who is currently on parole for a prior child-related offense, is being held on a no-bond warrant.

Bryson also arrested Kristi Overton, 47, of Mansfield on a charge of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Overton was taken to the Wright County Jail, where her bond was set at $5,000 cash only.

The sheriff’s office noted that the case had generated numerous calls over the past four months, resulting in multiple deputies responding on several occasions.

Sheriff Kristi Akers commended Corporal Bryson for his persistence and dedication throughout the investigation, stating that his work reflects the professionalism the office strives to maintain.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
