WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The City of West Plains is pleased to announce Chris Henson has been named the new Transportation Director, effective August 11.
Henson currently serves as the Airport Manager at the West Plains Regional Airport and brings a unique blend of experience in both transportation and public safety to his new role.
Before joining the city’s airport team in 2023, Henson spent seven years with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) in St. Louis as the Maintenance/Traffic Training and Safety Manager. Prior to his time at MoDOT, he served the community for more than a decade in law enforcement, working as a patrolman for the West Plains Police Department and the Howell County Sheriff’s Office. He also served as Assistant Fire Chief for the Pomona Fire Protection District.
“Public service has always been a passion of mine,” Henson said. “I’m excited to begin this new chapter and committed to earning the trust and respect of our transportation staff. My goal is to continue building a department that operates efficiently, safely, and with pride in the work we do for this community.”
As Transportation Director, Henson will oversee the city’s street department, public transit, airport, and fleet operations.
