Douglas County Law Enforcement Seize Drugs and Firearms Tuesday Morning Search

Douglas County authorities say a weeks‑long covert narcotics investigation led to the service of a search warrant at the residence of Roger Wall near Vera Cruz early February 3. The Douglas County/Ava Multijurisdictional Task Force and the COMET Drug Task Force executed the warrant around 6 a.m.

According to Sheriff Chris Degase, investigators seized methamphetamine along with several firearms. Missouri law prohibits possessing illegal narcotics and firearms simultaneously. Deputies also recovered an item previously used as evidence in a Coroner’s Inquest—an item purchased with county taxpayer funds. Sheriff Degase said the statute of limitations may prevent prosecution for its possession, but the item will be returned to Douglas County as its rightful owner.

Because of Wall’s reported health issues, he was booked and released at the scene. Sheriff Degase requested that the court issue a summons rather than transporting him to jail.
A felony criminal summons has now been issued for Wall on one count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and nine counts of unlawful use or possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance. He is ordered to appear in court on February 26 at 9 a.m.

Wall has been placed on house arrest with CPS supervision, drug testing, a prohibition on illegal or mood‑altering substances, and a ban on possessing firearms.

Sheriff Degase thanked the Ava Police Department and the COMET Drug Task Force for their assistance, adding that “tenacity” continues to define the work of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
