Driver Facing Several Charges After Fleeing in Douglas County

A red Ford Mustang fleeing an attempted traffic stop led to a multi‑agency search in Douglas County late December 27, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Ava Police Department.

Officer Dering reported seeing the Mustang roll through a stop sign at Fleetwood and Washington before spinning its tires on Johnson Avenue and accelerating westbound. When the officer activated his emergency lights, the driver briefly stopped at Johnson and Highway 5, then sped onto Y Highway, reaching speeds over 100 mph before the officer ended the pursuit for safety reasons.

Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office joined the search along Y Highway but were initially unable to locate the vehicle. A resident later reported a red Mustang with a black hood parked in a driveway near the end of Y Highway. Responding units found the car unoccupied but still warm. The vehicle was towed after an inventory search.

During the search, a neighbor reported seeing someone running into nearby woods. Investigators also contacted the vehicle’s owner, who stated he had loaned the Mustang to Shawn Austin Loyd Doisher earlier in the evening. The owner told officers that Doisher called him after the incident, admitted running from law enforcement, and asked for his truck to be moved to the lower park. The owner later provided a written statement confirming Doisher had been driving.

Based on the investigation, officers requested charges against Doisher for careless driving, resisting arrest by fleeing, speeding more than 20 miles per hour over the limit, and tampering with a witness.
