According to a probable cause statement from the Howell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on February 2 to find “significant damage to the cinder block portion and the window above it” on the west side of the store. Security footage showed a blue early‑2000s Chevrolet Silverado losing control while attempting a “donut” in the parking lot and backing into the building before leaving the scene with a second vehicle.

Deputies later identified Sims as the driver after a witness came forward. The statement says Sims initially denied attempting a stunt but admitted his truck slid on ice. Investigators wrote that Sims caused $18,365 in damage and “failed to provide his information to law enforcement or the victim until multiple days later.”

The case was electronically filed in Howell County on February 25.
