Howell County, MO. – Today in the 1pm hour, Sheriff Matt Roberts made a statement to the public. The message will be included below, unedited.
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office has received information of a suspicious person in the Moody/ Bakersfield area. The reporting party felt the suspicious person resembled the escaped male subject from the prison in Calico Rock. A “faded red” colored car was also seen in very close proximity to the male. No other details were given regarding the car. Deputies responded to the area shortly after receiving the information, but were unable to locate anyone in the area.

I have spoken with Sheriff Melton of Izard County Arkansas and the Arkansas State Police to advise them of the possible sighting. When I spoke with Sheriff Melton there was no information at that time indicating the escapee had travelled into Missouri. I have been closely following this incident for several days and know there have been other possible sightings in Arkansas. Most recently, Investigators in Arkansas were following up on a tip the escapee might be in Faulkner County, Arkansas.
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office currently has Deputies and Investigators canvassing the area attempting to identify the identity of the subject who was seen. We are taking this matter seriously and devoting all available resources to locating or identifying this subject.
At this time, we have no information indicating with any degree of certainty this suspicious person was the escapee or that he is even in the State of Missouri.
