At 10:47 p.m. on April 15, 2025 Gary Merritt 71, an inmate at the South Central Correctional Facility in Licking was pronounce dead. Merritt was serving a life sentence for Capital Murder from Buchanan County, he had been in the Missouri Department of Corrections since May of 1984, an autopsy will be performed.
