Izard County Sheriff Warns Residents of Jury Duty Scam

IZARD COUNTY, Ark. — The Izard County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an ongoing jury duty scam after receiving multiple reports of fraudulent phone calls targeting individuals across Izard County.

According to the sheriff’s office, callers are falsely claiming residents missed jury duty and that a warrant has been issued for their arrest. In some cases, the caller demands immediate payment over the phone to “bond out,” or instructs the victim to go to a specific location and call back for further directions.

The Izard County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that it does not issue arrest warrants for missed jury duty and will never call residents to demand payment, request financial information, or instruct individuals to make bond payments in this manner.

Residents who receive such calls are advised to:

  • Not provide personal or financial information

  • Not send money or make any payments

  • Hang up immediately

Anyone who believes they have been contacted by a scammer, or who may have already shared information, is encouraged to contact the Izard County Sheriff’s Office as soon as possible.

Officials also ask residents to share the warning with friends and family members, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to scams, to help prevent further victimization.
