CAVE CITY, AR — July 8, 2025 — A collaborative effort between the Third Judicial Drug Task Force, the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cave City Police Department resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of illegal narcotics following a traffic stop in Cave City Tuesday evening.

According to a press release from the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began earlier in the day when authorities received information that a black Ford Mustang, showing damage to the front end and windshield, was traveling around Cave City with illegal narcotics inside. This intelligence was shared with Cave City Police, and Officer Dalton Hooker soon spotted the vehicle.

At approximately 8:03 p.m., Officer Hooker observed the damaged Mustang pull onto Main Street from the First Community Bank and conducted a traffic stop at 313 North Main Street.

Upon further inspection, the car was confirmed to be a 2008 Ford Mustang registered to Mcabe West. Officer Hooker called for backup from Lt. Trent Milligan of the Drug Task Force and his K-9 partner Bandit. During a search of the vehicle, Bandit alerted to the presence of narcotics, prompting a more detailed inspection.

Officers discovered 1279 grams of methamphetamine were located. The vehicle’s occupants — identified as Mcabe West and Melissa Blaskiewicz — were taken into custody and transported to the Sharp County Detention Center. Charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Sheriff Shane Russell expressed appreciation for the successful collaboration between agencies, stating: “This is another example of what inter-agency cooperation can produce. We thank the Cave City Police Department and K-9 ‘Bandit’ for their assistance in taking illegal narcotics off the streets of Sharp County.”
