A man was arrested on October 24 following a combative incident at Texas County Memorial Hospital that escalated into a physical struggle with law enforcement.
At approximately 10:59 p.m., officers responded to reports of an agitated patient, later identified as Arthur Conroy, who was reportedly yelling at hospital staff and repeatedly entering the nurses’ station despite being told not to approach personnel. Staff requested law enforcement remain on scene due to Conroy’s erratic behavior.
After being medically cleared and prescribed ibuprofen, Conroy became increasingly agitated, demanding stronger medication and refusing to leave the premises. He exited the emergency room, attempted to open a patrol vehicle, and tried to reenter the hospital.
When Sergeant Thompson intervened, Conroy resisted and grabbed the officer’s taser. During the ensuing struggle, Conroy pulled another officer to the ground by the neck, tearing hair and causing a bleeding abrasion to the officer’s elbow. After repeated commands, Conroy was restrained and taken into custody.
He is charged with Assault of a special Victim and Resisting Arrest. No hospital staff were injured.
