Man Charged After Camper Found Illegally Wired for Electricity

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Mo. — A Norwood man faces multiple charges in Douglas County after authorities say he was found living in a stolen camper trailer that had been illegally wired for electricity.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Trey Rex Walker, 33, was arrested Feb. 23 following an investigation by Detective Nathan Long. During that investigation, deputies recovered a stolen camper trailer Walker was allegedly living in and discovered it had been wired around an electric meter to obtain electricity without paying.

Walker has since been formally charged by grand jury indictment with second-degree burglary, receiving stolen property, and second-degree tampering with a utility meter. The charges stem from allegations that he unlawfully entered a camper trailer, retained it knowing it was stolen, and bypassed a meter box to receive electric service without proper measurement.

Court records show a warrant was issued March 16 and served March 17. Walker appeared for arraignment March 18, and a hearing is scheduled for May 5 in Douglas County Circuit Court. Bond was set at $300 cash only with additional conditions, including no contact with individuals listed in the case.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
