Missouri Farm Bureau Applauds Passage of “One, Big, Beautiful Bill”

Missouri Farm Bureau President Garrett Hawkins praised the U.S. Congress for passing the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill,” calling it a major victory for farmers, ranchers, and small business owners nationwide.

“Today marks a monumental step in advancing Farm Bureau’s top priorities,” Hawkins said. “This legislation brings much-needed tax certainty and enhances the farm safety net, helping secure the future of rural America.”

Key provisions in the bill include:

  • Increased estate tax exemption
  • Expanded access to Section 179 expensing
  • Continued use of cash accounting, business interest deductions, and other essential tools for farms and small businesses
  • Updates to farm bill programs, including higher reference prices and improved dairy margin coverage
  • Support for affordable, reliable, domestically produced energy and biofuels

Hawkins credited the leadership of House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith and members of the Missouri congressional delegation, including Senators Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt, and Representatives Ann Wagner, Bob Onder, Mark Alford, Sam Graves, and Eric Burlison for helping get the bill passed.

Missouri Farm Bureau, the state’s largest farm organization, says the bill strengthens the rural economy and supports the mission of bringing the next generation back to Missouri’s farms and communities.
