The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has extended its temporary weight allowance for trucks hauling rock, sand, and gravel used in flood recovery and levee repair efforts. The waiver permits commercial motor carriers to exceed standard weight limits by up to 10% under Missouri law.
The extension is effective through August 31, 2025, and is intended to support ongoing infrastructure repairs following severe flooding across the state.
The waiver includes the following conditions:
- Total loaded vehicle weight may not exceed 10% above the licensed weight.
- Applies only to in-state transport of rock, sand, and gravel.
- Bridge weight limits must be strictly observed, and vehicle speed must be limited to 30 mph when crossing bridges.
- The allowance is valid only on non-interstate highways; interstate travel remains prohibited under the waiver.
MoDOT encourages drivers to consult the Traveler Information Map at traveler.modot.org for current road closures.
