A Mountain View man has been arrested following an investigation into a reported theft from a vehicle. According to a probable cause statement, a victim reported on February 17 that $140 was missing from her car and stated, “Walmart has a video of him getting into my car.”
Officer McDaniel reviewed Walmart surveillance footage, which showed a man opening the victim’s vehicle door before later entering the store holding what appeared to be cash. The officer wrote that he positively identified the individual as 21‑year‑old Darrin Michael Walls.
The next day, McDaniel stopped Walls during a traffic violation and later asked him to come to the police department for questioning. After being read his Miranda rights, Walls declined to speak without an attorney. He is charged with Burglary 2nd Degree with bond set at $5000.
