From Oregon County Commissioner Jake Parker:
I wanted to share an important update and some very good news. We received word today regarding the SRS funds from 2024 and 2025 that had previously lapsed through the U.S. Forest Service. This lapse hit Oregon County hard—especially our school districts.
I’m very pleased to report that tomorrow, the 2024 SRS funds will be deposited into Oregon County accounts, and in April the 2025 SRS funds will also be released to the county. These payments will be distributed to the schools within our forestry districts. This is a major win for our county and for our students.
A huge thank‑you goes out to everyone involved in making this happen. Special thanks to Congressman Jason Smith and his team for listening to Oregon County’s concerns and taking them seriously.
The work isn’t finished—there are still wrongs to right—but we are absolutely moving in the right direction.
