Ozark County Gas Tanker Crash Leads to Road Closure and Cleanup

Gainesville, MO. – A crash last night in Ozark County has lead to serious injuries and a lengthy cleanup of gasoline, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. 

The official crash report states that a 36-year-old male driver from Mountain Home, AR. was operating a Peterbilt while hauling 8000 gallons of gas in a tanker, when they ran off the roadway on US 160 near Gainesville and overturned multiple times.

The vehicle was totaled and the driver was seriously injured, leading to Air Evac services transporting them to Cox in Springfield.

As a result of the crash hazmat teams were dispatched to clean up the gasoline which was leaking next to a nearby creek.

A detour was also implemented, and as of 8am this morning cleanup is expected to finish within the next couple of hours.
