Ozarks Food Harvest has set a fundraising goal of $60,000 for Giving Tuesday to help provide food for families facing hunger this holiday season.
Giving Tuesday is an international day of charitable giving that encourages people to commit to an act of generosity. Following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, this year’s Giving Tuesday will take place on Dec. 2.
Community members can support The Food Bank by donating through its website or Facebook fundraiser on Dec. 2. Ozarks Food Harvest’s fundraising goal of $60,000 will help provide more than 180,000 meals to children, families and seniors in the Ozarks. Sponsors will match donations dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000.
“Donating to Ozarks Food Harvest is one of the best investments you can make because we can take $1 and turn it into $10 worth of groceries for a family facing hunger,” said Bart Brown, president and CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest. “Even with rising prices, The Food Bank still spends 96 cents of every dollar donated on food programs.”
Since 2014, Ozarks Food Harvest has raised more than $480,000 through Giving Tuesday campaigns. These funds have helped provide more than 1.8 million meals to families facing hunger in the Ozarks.
In southwest Missouri, 1 in 5 children and 1 in 6 adults face hunger, meaning they don’t know where their next meal will come from. Ozarks Food Harvest reaches 70,000 individuals monthly and provides more than 23 million meals annually across its 28-county service area.
