Rep. Matthew Overcast Appointed to New Missouri House Committee on Property Tax Reform

State Representative Matthew Overcast has been named to the newly formed Missouri House Special Interim Committee on Property Tax Reform, a bipartisan panel dedicated to evaluating and improving the state’s property tax system.

Announced on June 23, the committee was established by House Speaker Jon Patterson to study current property tax laws and recommend reforms that promote fairness, transparency, and long-term sustainability for both taxpayers and local governments. The committee will be chaired by Rep. Tim Taylor, with Rep. Rodger Reedy serving as vice-chair and Rep. Kathy Steinhoff as the ranking minority member.

Rep. Overcast joins 18 other House members on the committee, bringing his perspective and regional experience to the table during a time when property tax concerns continue to dominate conversations among Missouri homeowners and local leaders.

Public input will be a key part of the committee’s work. A series of hearings is scheduled throughout the summer, beginning July 16 in Jefferson City. Additional meetings are planned for Lebanon, and other locations to be announced, including expected stops in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Chillicothe.
