An afternoon crash on Highway 142 left a 16‑year‑old West Plains girl with moderate injuries Sunday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 4:20 p.m., three miles east of Lanton. Troopers say an eastbound 2003 Chevrolet 1500 traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

The driver, an 18‑year‑old man from Thayer, was wearing a seat belt and was not reported injured. A 16‑year‑old female passenger, also wearing a safety device, was flown by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment.
