Springfield, MO. – The 27th Annual Japanese Fall Festival will be occurring in Springfield on September 8th through the 10th, and with it, a curiosity will be finding it’s way to the Ozarks: Sumo Wrestling.
The sumo wrestling event will put USA-resident sumo wrestlers out on a stage to show off their prowess and agility throughout the event. Promotions on the event state it’s possible watchers may even challenge one of the wrestlers to a match.
In addition to sumo, there will be return events including a Yosakoi dance ensample, Yasu Ishida, a storyteller and magician who is originally from Ube, Japan, and Seigan Chiba, a calligrapher from Fukushima in Japan. There will also be various other performances and exhibitions including taiko drumming, martial arts, and cosplay.
All of this takes place at the Nathanael Green/Close Memorial Part at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, located at 2400 South Scenic Avenue in Springfield.
