Superintendent of Mountain View-Birch Tree RIII School District Announces Retirement

Mountain View-Birch Tree, MO. – A recent social media post from yesterday from the Mountain View-Birch Tree R-III School District revealed the announcement of retirement of their current superintendent. It reads as follows:

“At the September Board of Education meeting, Dr. Christensen, Superintendent of Schools, announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2023. Dr. Christensen has a long history of teaching and administrative roles during his 34 years in education. He taught Spanish I, II, III, and IV, as well as Biology I and Physical Science at Bolivar High School. He taught Spanish I and II, as well as 8th Grade English at Republic Middle School. He served 20 years in the Ash Grove District, where he spent 12 years as the Jr. High and High School Principal and 8 years as the Superintendent.

Dr. Christensen has been the Superintendent in the Mountain View-Birch Tree R-III School District for 8 successful years. During his 8 years in our district, he led and continues to lead several major construction projects, making several significant improvements to our facilities. As a result of his expertise in school finance and relentless dedication, he has significantly improved our district’s financial condition.

Dr. Christensen has led our district in adding several new critical positions, such as a Curriculum Director, an additional High School Counselor, an Assistant Principal at Liberty Middle School, an Assistant Principal at Mountain View Elementary, and an Assistant Superintendent of Student Services. Under his leadership, our district became a one-to-one school, meaning all students have been assigned a Chromebook to use at school. He brought about numerous other changes and improvements and has made a huge impact at Mountain View-Birch Tree!

Although he will be greatly missed, we hope he enjoys every minute of his well-deserved retirement!”
