Investigators say the suspect drove over a curb upon arrival and nearly struck the building. He then exited his vehicle, retrieved a floor jack, and used it to destroy two entry doors and severely damage an interior safety window. He barricaded himself inside the lobby.
Two Licking Police officers secured the scene until additional units arrived. After a brief negotiation, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Texas County Jail.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public. Formal charges will be released once the investigation is complete.

Due to the damage, the department lobby is closed until further notice. Residents can still reach the department by phone at 573‑674‑2278.
