Teen Facing Felony Charges After Using Fake Money to Buy Vehicle

Mammoth Spring, AR. – An 18-year-old Arkansas teen has been arrested on a Class D Felony charge after using fake money to purchase a vehicle.

This event happened on September 1st, when a Mammoth Spring resident was contacted via the Facebook Marketplace on a 2002 GMC Denali they had planned to sell. According to the probable cause statement, the owner met with the potential buyer, identified as 18-year-old Nathaniel Griffith of Pocahontas, who gave an envelope with the supposed money inside for the transaction.

The owner noticed afterward the money in the envelope was fake, and called local law enforcement, who found Griffith shortly after. While in custody, Griffith wrote out a statement admitting to the incident.

Griffith is facing one Felony Class D Charge of Theft of Property.
