On November 30, 2025, at approximately 9:27 p.m., an Ava Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a Lexus traveling westbound on Springfield Road that displayed no registration.
The driver, later identified as Deborah Brady, initially refused to provide identification or comply with lawful orders to exit the vehicle. Brady told officers she did not believe in registering motor vehicles or maintaining insurance.
Additional officers arrived to assist, and dispatch confirmed Brady’s license was expired and that she had an active felony warrant for aggravated assault out of Douglas County. Despite repeated orders, Brady continued to refuse compliance until officers physically removed her from the vehicle and placed her under arrest.
During the arrest, Brady resisted and made aggressive contact with an officer’s vest and body camera. She was transported to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jail.
Authorities impounded the vehicle and Animal Control took custody of three dogs found inside. Brady was advised she would need to contact the Ava Police Department upon release to reclaim the animals.
Brady faces charges of:
- Resisting/Interfering with a Felony Arrest
- Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle
- No Valid Driver’s License
