Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest Near Myrtle, Missouri

A routine traffic stop on BB Highway outside Myrtle escalated into a narcotics arrest after deputies discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a roadside investigation.

Deputy James A. Martin of the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist Reserve Deputy R. Hodo (DSN 4084) with a stop involving a dark-colored Dodge Charger. Upon arrival, Deputy Martin identified the passenger as Carl Inman, a Myrtle resident. The driver was found to have a revoked Missouri license, prompting plans to tow the vehicle and conduct an inventory.

According to the report, Mr. Inman became irate when asked to exit the vehicle and claimed he held a valid license. Deputies noted a strong odor of alcohol, and Mr. Inman admitted to drinking, pointing to open containers inside the car. Upon exiting, a bong-like device was observed within reach of Mr. Inman, who denied ownership.

After being read his Miranda rights, Mr. Inman reportedly resisted arrest, requiring deputies to restrain him on the ground. During a search, deputies recovered a bag containing a white crystallized substance from Mr. Inman’s pocket, along with two pipes—one of which was damaged during the struggle. A third pipe was allegedly kicked toward the vehicle in an attempt to conceal it.

The substance was tested by Sgt. Bunting using a Tru-Narc device and confirmed positive for methamphetamine. The total weight was measured at 19.8 grams. All items, including the bong and pipes, were secured into evidence.

Mr. Inman was transported to the Oregon County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
