Two Arrested and Charged With Vehicle Hijacking

Wesley James Floyd Hanger and Mikayla Brotherton were arrested by the West Plains Police Department on Sunday May 11th and charged with Vehicle Hijacking and an additional charge of 3rd Degree Assault was given to Hanger.  According to the probable cause statement, Hanger assaulted the vehicle owner at Snappy Mart 11 after an argument, then he and Brotherton drove off in the vehicle without permission. Brotherton had gotten money from the victim to purchase food but instead used it on the video gaming machines and went out and asked for more money, which the victim would not provide. Hanger and Brotherton got back in the vehicle and that is when the assault took place. The victim had originally allowed the accused to drive due to being unable to safely drive himself.  After the argument Hanger struck the victim with a closed fist multiple times and left the scene in the victim’s vehicle, in which the victim chose to press charges. Each of the accused are being held with a $10,000 bond each.
