Two Arrested in Attempted Trailer Theft in Drury

A suspected theft involving a $16,000 camper trailer was thwarted in Douglas County, leading to the arrest of one individual and identification of a second suspect with a multi-state criminal history.

On the morning of September 13, a property owner in Drury observed a white utility truck backing toward one of his camper trailers. The vehicle fled when spotted, prompting the owner to pursue it southbound on State Highway 95. The passenger later claimed they believed the campers were for sale.

Deputy Shane Harden responded to the scene, documenting tire tracks and photographing the camper and surrounding area. The property owner provided images of the suspect vehicle, which were circulated on social media. Community tips suggested the truck might be affiliated with a local organization.

The camper was reportedly insured for $12,000 and contained musical equipment valued at over $4,500, including a CA acoustic guitar and X32 mixer.

Later that day, a BOLO issued by Sheriff Chris Degase led to a traffic stop by Wright County authorities. Darrell Bolin was arrested and admitted to being on the property. He identified Wayne Stewart as the passenger, who matched the description given by the property owner.

Stewart, 52, has prior arrests in Michigan for larceny, burglary, and possession of a stolen vehicle, and is listed as a Missouri convicted felon. He and Bolin face charges of Attempted Stealing $750 or more and 2nd Degree Tresspassing.
