West Plains, Mo – A Howell County man is facing multiple criminal charges after deputies responded to a violent domestic disturbance over the weekend that involved a woman, a child, and a third victim.
According to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched to a residence in West Plains on Saturday following a 911 hang-up call. While in route, dispatch received a second call from the same number, during which the female caller reported an active domestic situation. Contact with the caller was lost shortly afterward. The last information relayed to dispatch was that the suspect was standing over the victim.
The primary victim told authorities that the altercation began during an argument in which she refused to engage in sexual activity with the suspect. In response, the suspect allegedly struck her in the back with a cell phone, causing extreme pain.
The victim further reported that the suspect then entered the room of their child, where she witnessed him violently shaking the child and throwing the child into a crib. A third individual, identified as another victim, also stated that the suspect grabbed and twisted their arm during the incident.
The suspect, identified as Marcus Clayborn Hamm, has been formally charged with the following:
- Abuse or Neglect of a Child
- Two Counts of Assault in the Third Degree
