West Plains Police Arrests Man on Trespass and Drug Charges

According to the Probable Cause Statement:

On May 10th, 2025, at approximately 1354 hours, officers were dispatched to a residence located on West Second Street, West Plains, Howell County, Missouri, for a report of a suspicious male who entered an unlocked residence. Upon arrival, the officer was advised by the victim that an unknown male was inside his residence. He then approached the front of the residence and observed a male through an open window walking toward the front door of the residence. The male suspect, later identified as John Richardson, exited through the front door of the residence and was taken into custody without incident. Richardson advised his property, a state-issued ID card and wallet along with other items were located inside the residence. On the table, the officer observed multiple black nitrile gloves, two clear plastic baggies that contained a white crystalline substance, a glass pipe with burnt residue, and a hat with a wallet and other items inside the hat. He inquired if the items listed above were Richardson’s, and he verified the items belonged to him. The victim wished to pursue charges against Richardson. The white crystalline substance seized from Richardson’s property was weighed using uncertified scales and tested utilizing TruNarc, serial number TN8216. The TruNarc returned a positive test for Methamphetamine a schedule 2 controlled substance, and the clear plastic baggie with the majority amount of the white crystalline substance weighed 2.00 Grams. The second clear plastic baggie containing a small amount of the white crystalline substance weighed .034 Grams. A copy of the TruNarc report will be attached to this report. John Richardson is charged with 1st degree trespass, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
