According to a press release from the West Plains Police Department:
On June 7th, 2025, at 5:46 a.m., Officers were dispatched for a disturbance at the Holiday Inn Express located at 1301 Preacher Roe Blvd. The first caller stated a subject was on the premises and was refusing to leave. Another person called shortly after and report a firearm had been discharged there.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness who said they watched the suspect fire several rounds into a vehicle as it fled the parking lot. At 5:58 a.m., a 23 year old black male from Little Rock, Arkansas, who was identified as a suspect, was placed in custody and a firearm was recovered.
Upon further investigation it was determined a black female who was inside the above mentioned vehicle, received a nonlife threatening gunshot wound. The victim was located several hours later in the State of Arkansas. It was also determined the vehicle had multiple occupants, one being an infant child.
A suspect has been placed on a 24hr hold pending formal charges for:
1st Degree Assault with Intent
Armed Criminal Action
Unlawful Use of Weapon
First Degree Endangering the Welfare of Child
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Criminal charges, and any discussion thereof, are merely allegations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
