West Plains Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday w/ David Evans, Mike Topliff, and NSDAR

West Plains, MO. – A local West Plains resident and member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has been honored with a well-earned celebration for 100 years of life.

The celebration occurred on Wednesday, August 10th, with many in attendance. The woman of the hour was Margaret McLain Balough. In attendance were not only Margarets family, but also the Daughters of the American Revolution, Missouri State Representative David Evans, and the Mayor of West Plains Mike Topliff.

Margaret McLain Balough was born August 25, 1922 in Massillon, Ohio to Charles and Margaret McLain. On July 27, 1946, she married Henry “Hank” Balough. They had four children, Henry, Jr. (deceased), David, Steven, and Kate. Margaret has eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of West Plains, a retired teacher, an avid camper, and crafter. Furthermore, with inspiration from an Aunt, Margaret joined NSDAR and has been an active Daughter for 61 years, contributing an “enviable list of services” to the Ozark Spring Chapter, NSDAR organization and to the West Plains community.
