From the Howell County Sherriff’s Department:
On April 25, 2025 Howell County Deputies received information from South Central Drug Task Force regarding a vehicle transporting methamphetamine into Howell County. Howell County Deputies and Sheriff Roberts joined a SCDTF Officer in conducting surveillance in an attempt to locate the vehicle.
At approximately 2:35 AM Deputy Robert Malone initiated a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop Deputy Malone deployed K-9 Spice. After a positive alert by K-9 Spice, a search of the vehicle was conducted. Both occupants were interviewed with one admitting to being in possession of narcotics and having the narcotics concealed in a sensitive area. Due to this it was decided to transport both occupants from the scene.
Both occupants were transported to the Howell County Jail where they were processed and scanned with the body scanner. Prior to the scan the female occupant produced a bag of suspected methamphetamine that was concealed on her person. The bag was field tested and tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 29.5 grams.
Chelcey L Thompson, 29 of West Plains was charged with RSMO 579.020 Delivery of a controlled substance with a bond of $50,000.00. She is currently being held in the Howell County Jail.
