This morning, a school bus transporting students was involved in an accident. The driver and students on board are safe. All parents or guardians of the students who were on the bus have been contacted directly by the district.
At the time of the accident, there were three students and one driver on the bus. One student reported a minor injury and is being evaluated.
According to initial reports, the bus traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and struck a tree.
The safety of our students is always our top priority. The incident will be reviewed as part of standard transportation safety procedures.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report:
The accident happened on U Highway 12 miles north of Willow Springs when the 68-year-old bus driver was driving too fast for the conditions, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, overcorrected to the left, traveled back onto the roadway, back off the left side and struck a tree.
A 15-year-old juvenile was transported to Ozarks Healthcare by Ambulance, according to the crash report.
No other injuries were reported.
