David Joel Alley Jr.

David Joel Alley Jr “J.R.” made his early journey home on January 13, 2022, at the age of 48. He was born on January 29, 1973, to David Alley Sr. and Carmenita Pummill in St. Louis, Missouri.

J.R. is survived by his parents, Lloyd and Carmenita Gerry of Eminence, MO, and David Alley Sr. and Colleen Alley of Winfield, MO; three sons, Jacob Brantley of Hillsboro, MO, Ashton Alley-Cutts, and Brandon Nash both of Eminence, MO; one granddaughter, Faith Brantley; eight brothers, Donnie Downs, Nathan Alley, Joel Alley, William Alley, Ronnie Alley, Patrick McAteer, Greg Gerry, and Kevin Gerry; and three sisters, Amy Nichols, Kim Stahl, and Maggie Ferguson.
After high school, J.R.’s mechanical skills lead him to attend college, where he earned a two-year degree in automotive engineering. In 2006, he married Brandie Cutts, and during the fourteen years they spent together, J.R. worked for American Commercial Barge Line and Ingram Marine Group, as chief engineer. He worked hard to provide for his family, which unfortunately kept him away from home for months at a time. When J.R. was home, he enjoyed camping, hunting, and traveling. He was always the life of the party and a bit of a comedian. His smile was infectious and would light up any room he entered.
J.R. had struggles, his life was not always easy, but with continued prayers, he found the Lord. He turned his life over and had been faithfully serving him for the past several years. J.R.’s love for his boys, granddaughter, family, friends, and all who knew him is something that will be dearly missed. We find great peace and comfort knowing J.R. is now dancing in the beautiful heavens with his Grandma Nancy.
