Geneva Pearl Barks, age 80, passed away on January 14, 2022, at her home in West Plains, Missouri. She was born to Corba Isaac and Hazel Alberta (Holloway) Skaggs on April 27, 1941, in Winona, Missouri.
Geneva married Golden Ray Bowen, Sr and to this union, three children were born, Golden Ray, Jr., Lavada, and Darlene. After Golden’s passing in 2007, she later married Orval Lowe Barks.
She was preceded in death by both her husbands, Golden Bowen, Sr., and Orval Barks; her parents, Corba and Hazel Skaggs; one son, Golden Bowen, Jr.; two brothers, Robert “Bill” Counts, and infant, Jessie Ellis Counts; and one sister, Millie Osburn.
Geneva is survived by two daughters, Lavada Kester and Mike Washburn of Winona, MO and Darlene Horst and husband, Philip of Mountain View, MO; three step-sons, Mike Barks, Ray Barks and wife, Cindy, and Tim Barks and wife, Karen, all of West Plains, MO; one daughter-in-law, Mary Bowen; two sisters, Lillie Bland of Birch Tree, MO and Eva Honeycutt of Eminence, MO; four grandchildren, Justin Horst, Allie Harris, Michelle Redman, and Joe Norris; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Yarber Mortuary, Winona, Missouri, with Troy McAfee and Tressa Price officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in New Eminence Cemetery, Eminence, Missouri.
