James “Jim E.” Sears

Graveside Services for James “Jim E.” Sears, Age 81 of Cabool, Missouri will be held on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025 in the Cabool Cemetery, Cabool, Missouri, beginning at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM at The Elliot Gentry Carder Funeral Home, Cabool, Missouri

James (Jim) E. Sears departed this world on Dec. 13, 2025 at his home in Rogersville, MO. Jim was born into this world on April 19, 1943 at 7:07pm in Phoenix, AZ the son of Cecil Leonard and Bertha Elveta (Smith) Sears.

While Jim was born in Arizona he took up residence in Cabool, MO where he began the life he loved. Being a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. Jim was united in marriage to Helen Louise Strong Oct. 9, 1965 and to this union two sons were born, Roger E. and Bradley R. Sears.

Jim worked a few jobs as an adult such as sawmills and chicken plant until he discovered his passion for driving. He used to brag that he gets to see the country and get paid to do it as an over the road trucker. He continued driving until he retired but he still would not give it up and those that knew him will tell you, he made multiple trips around town every day visiting the local café’s and visiting with friends and family.

Jim was an avid reader of the Bible and attended Maness Memorial Baptist Church in Cabool for many years until he moved. When he no longer felt like attending he began watching services on TV. Jim loved the Lord and his family with all his heart. He was one of the most forgiving people you would ever hope to meet. Jim loved to take little trips even though he would usually not stay to long and he was back on the road.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Sears and Bertha Elveta Spiva; his wife, Helen Sears; son Roger Sears; sister Betty and several brothers’ in law, sister’s in law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is survived by his son, Brad Sears of Rogersville, MO; two grandsons, Trent Sears of Nixa, MO and Austin Sears of Nixa, MO; two granddaughters, Courtney Traw of Willow Springs, MO and Ashley Gonzales of Nixa, MO; 12 great grandkids and numerous other family and friends.

Jim was a loving father and grandfather and we all loved him very much. Dad we have shed some tears, but we know you are now reunited with mom and Roger. We know you are happy and smiling and we look forward to seeing that smile again when we meet you there. Jim will be greatly missed and all the memories of him cherished until we all meet him in God’s Kingdom where he will be waiting to greet us.
