Mary Vanderpool

Mary Alice Vanderpool, 90 years, 10 months, and 26 days old, passed peacefully, joining her husband, Howard, in Heaven on December 18, 2022 at her home with loving family by her side.

Mary was born January 21, 1932 in Ada, Oklahoma to Carl and Lily Alyne (Mayo) Graves.

On May 2, 1948 Mary and Howard Vanderpool were united in marriage at Las Vegas, Nevada and to this union three children were born.

She was a photographer, she loved and wrote poetry and was a lyricist for songs she and Howard composed. She loved being a homemaker and collected recipes and cooked all kinds of food. Mary enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, and crocheting. She was a collector of dishes and friends. Her joy was being hospitable to family, friends and guests!

Mary served passionately as a Pastor’s wife for over 30 years. Howard and Mary worked together and built a life sized replica of the Old Testament Tabernacle. Her portion was  sewing the ram and goat skins and embroidered linen curtains. They were amazing in getting all the details. Mary also worked with Howard in starting a Bible School.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard and two of her siblings.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Barbara and Jim Paisley, Daniel and Martha Vanderpool and Kathy Vanderpool; six grandchildren, Ryan Paisley, Tara Paisley Young, Amy Mucklestone, David, Sam, and Joy Vanderpool; seventeen great grand-children; one great-great-grandchild and one on the way; her sister, Carlene Jiles; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
