Robert L. Maggard, 84 years and 3 days old, passed peacefully to Heaven on December 18, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.
Robert was born December 15, 1938 in Bradleyville, Missouri to Lewis and Lola (Combs) Maggard.
On June 22, 1962 Robert and Arlena Hodges were united in marriage by the Rev. Glesco Roberts at Brownbranch, Missouri and to this union they were blessed with a daughter, Robin.
Robert graduated from the Bradleyville High School and he continued his education at SMS and Drury in Springfield. He taught elementary school at El Dorado Springs, MO and Morrisville, MO. He later received his Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Arkansas. He then served as a Principal at the Study and Wanda Gray Schools. Robert retired after 30 years of service.
He was a Christian and a member of New Mansion Church in Bradleyville. He enjoyed farming, working in real estate and hunting. His joy was being with his family, especially his grandsons! He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Robert will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Bert & Bessie Hodges; two sisters, Juanita Whittaker and Ruth Hodges; brother-in-law, Billy Hodges and sister-in-law, Vada Taylor.
He is survived by his wife Arlena, daughter Robin Maggard; two grandsons, James R. and Joseph E. Strait; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Robert will be Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial following in the Rock Prairie Cemetery, Halltown MO. Visitation will be Tuesday prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. to service time. Officiating will be Pastor Neal Crum.
