Ruby Pauline (McGownd) Robertson, 95, of Mountain Grove, passed away on December 2, 2025, after a long and productive life.
Pauline, as she was known by family and friends, was born on August 2, 1930, in Bendavis, Missouri, to Earl Jackson “Jack” McGownd and Ethel (Baty) McGownd. Pauline accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age and served Him faithfully until He called her home.
In 1948, Pauline married Lonnie Roberston of Bendavis, Missouri. Two daughters were born from this union, Pamela Kay and Teresa Gay.
Pauline taught at several area one room schoolhouses before moving to Texas to be with her husband who was in the military. Once their service was completed, in addition to helping Lonnie farm, she worked for Lewis & Lewis photography, in retail at Mountain Grove, carried the mail with Lonnie, and helped run Robertson Trailers. The couple retired in the late 1990s, and started their adventure traveling, often boasting she had been to 48 states, Canada, and Mexico.
Pauline loved gardening, quilting, and playing card games with her friends. When Pauline was not at the Senior Center, taking long walks, or making sure her car was washed, she could be found in a chair reading a good book. She excelled at being a grandmother to her four grandchildren and five great grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of loving her.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie, her two sisters, Freda Klingensmith and Veta Moberly, and her brother, Jack McGownd.
She is survived by her two daughters, Pamela of Mountain Grove, and husband, Robert, and Teresa of Mountain Grove, and husband, Curtis, four grandchildren, Krista Tate, Phillip Dowden, Zachary Tate and wife, Leah, and Jordan Dowden and wife, Kelsey, five great-grandchildren, Parker and Lane Dowden, Margot Tate, and Hazel and Harrison Dowden.
