Robert “Bobby” Larry Burns Sr.

Robert L. “Bobby” Burns Sr, also known as Grizz to his friends and family, was born July 8, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri to Robert K. and Orpha (Gale) Burns.  He passed away at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri on June 1, 2025 at the age of 64.  

Bobby was united in marriage to Linda Cross and they were blessed with one son, Robert L. Burns Jr.  He spent the last 28 years with Sheryl Burris who brought her two children to their relationship, James Scantlin and Whitney Garrett who Bobby affectionately referred to as “Punk.”

He grew up in Hartshorn and attended Summersville Schools, graduating with the class of 1978.   

Bobby always looked forward to hunting with his family and friends.  He loved riding his bike, playing horseshoes and cornhole.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.  His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert K. Burns and Sheryl’s father, James E. Burris.  

Bobby is survived by his son, Robert L. Burns Jr. and Kim of Licking, MO; his longtime companion, Sheryl Burris of the home in Hartshorn, MO; son, James Scantlin and Chelsye of Houston, MO, daughter Whitney Garrett and Jessie of Houston, MO; his mother, Orpha Burns of Hartshorn, MO; brother, Rick Nalette and Charlene of Newberry, MI; brother Doug Burns and Tammy of Summersville, MO; sister, Denise Brawley and Dale of Summersville, MO; grandchildren, Zoey, Phoenix, Jace, Hayden, Joslyn and Braxton; Sheryl’s mother, Carol Burris of Houston, MO as well as many other family members and friends.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in Bobby’s memory be made to Bradford Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
